A Personal Approach to Dental Care
At Jaffar Dental, we provide a wide range of general, restorative and cosmetic dental care for adults and children.
Dr Kevin takes a hands-on, personalised approach to treatment and is closely involved in each patient’s care. Wherever possible, treatment is completed here at the practice, helping make your care more convenient and straightforward.
We focus on clear explanations, careful treatment planning and high-quality results tailored to your individual needs.
-
A check-up and clean is a routine dental visit designed to check the health of your teeth and gums and professionally remove plaque, tartar and surface staining. During your appointment, Dr Kevin will examine your teeth and gums, discuss any concerns and recommend X-rays when clinically appropriate. Regular visits can help identify problems early, before they become more complicated. For most patients, we recommend a check-up and clean around every six months, although this may vary depending on your individual oral health needs.
-
Periodontal cleaning is a deeper clean used when gum disease has caused plaque and tartar to build up below the gumline. It helps reduce inflammation, improve gum health and protect the tissues that support your teeth. Treatment may be completed over several visits so each area can be cleaned thoroughly and comfortably, followed by an ongoing maintenance schedule tailored to your needs.
-
Fillings are used to repair teeth affected by decay, wear, cracks or other damage. The damaged area is carefully removed and the tooth is rebuilt to restore its shape, strength and function. Where suitable, tooth-coloured materials can be used for a natural-looking result. Dr Kevin pays close attention to the fit, bite and finish of each restoration.
-
Root canal treatment is used when the nerve inside a tooth becomes inflamed, damaged or infected. The aim is to remove the infection, relieve symptoms and preserve the natural tooth where possible. Treatment is usually completed over more than one appointment, depending on the tooth and the level of infection. Once complete, the tooth may also need a strong final restoration such as a crown.
-
Crowns and bridges are custom-made restorations used to strengthen damaged teeth or replace missing teeth. A crown can protect a tooth that has been weakened by a large filling, fracture, wear or root canal treatment, while a bridge can replace one or more missing teeth using neighbouring teeth for support. Each restoration is carefully planned for fit, bite, function and appearance, with tooth-coloured and gold alloy options available where appropriate.
-
Dentures are removable appliances used to replace several missing teeth or a complete arch of teeth. They can help restore chewing, speech and appearance and may be made as full or partial dentures depending on your needs. Each denture is individually planned with attention to fit, comfort, bite and appearance, with adjustments made as required.
-
An extraction is the removal of a tooth that can no longer be predictably restored or is causing ongoing problems. Dr Kevin performs both routine and more complex extractions, with a focus on keeping you comfortable and minimising trauma to the surrounding tissues. We’ll explain why removal is being recommended, discuss alternatives where appropriate and provide clear aftercare instructions.
-
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment used to lighten staining and brighten the natural teeth. We offer professional take-home whitening using custom-made trays, allowing treatment to be completed gradually at home. Before whitening, we assess your teeth and gums to make sure it is suitable for you and explain what kind of result you can realistically expect.
-
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of the teeth while also considering function and long-term oral health. Depending on your concerns, treatment options may include teeth whitening, composite veneers, crowns, bridges and other restorative treatments. We’ll discuss what you would like to change and recommend options that are realistic and appropriate for your teeth.
-
Children’s dentistry focuses on helping children maintain healthy teeth and feel comfortable visiting the dentist from an early age. Appointments may include check-ups, cleans, preventive advice, fillings and other general dental treatment depending on your child’s needs.
We take a gentle, age-appropriate approach and aim to make each visit a positive experience.
Eligible children aged 0–17 may also be able to access up to $1,158 in dental benefits over two consecutive calendar years through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) for selected basic dental services.
Children must be between 2 and 17 years old and qualify for Medicare to receive the CDBS. Recipients of Family Tax Benefit Part A, Parenting Payment or Double Orphan Pension Payments are also entitled to it.
If children are not covered by the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), we are still able to provide dental services at private prices and facilitate claiming through their health funds.
-
Emergency dental care is for problems that need prompt attention, such as toothache, swelling, a broken tooth or dental trauma. We’ll assess the cause of the problem, help manage the immediate issue and explain what treatment may be needed next. If you’re unsure whether something is urgent, we’d rather you contact us and ask.
-
A custom-fitted mouthguard is designed to help protect the teeth and jaws during sport. Because it is made specifically for your mouth, it can provide better comfort, fit and protection than an over-the-counter option. We can assess your bite and create a mouthguard suited to your individual needs.
-
A dental consultation gives you the opportunity to discuss a concern, treatment option or larger treatment plan before deciding what to do. We’ll assess the area, explain what we can see and talk you through the available options and likely next steps.
We also offer a free 5-minute, no-obligation consultation for patients who would like a quick opinion before committing to treatment. Dr Kevin can take a brief look, explain the likely issue and outline possible treatment options so you have a clearer idea of what may be involved.
